April Cottage Grasmere

About April Cottage

ABOUT

April Cottage is a gorgeous 200 year old cottage built out of Lakeland stone. It has been restored with great care to keep all the charm, yet still benefits from all the modern comforts.

The cottage is on Easedale Road which is tucked away in a quiet area approximately five minutes walk from Grasmere Village. It is a family run cottage and we would like our guests to enjoy it as much as we do. We also hope that our guests will enjoy the surrounding area as there is such a lot to see and do without venturing very far.

Grasmere itself oozes character and charm and has got many fabulous restaurants and pubs. It has also been the home of the famous Wordsworth, so there are attractions like ‘Dove Cottage’ to visit, and also the famous Sarah Nelson's Gingerbread Shop. Not only are there attractions like these but there is also a park in the village which keeps the children happy. If that fails then a bus service runs regularly into nearby towns and villages. Grasmere isn’t far from Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside. You can even catch the open top bus on a nice fine day.

On the doorstep of April Cottage there are walks in every direction. There are easy walks or walks for the more adventures. You could visit Alcock Tarn, Loughrigg Fell, Easedale Tarn and Silver Howe to name but a few. Take the time to take in the fabulous views and fresh air. We have provided a few maps and recommended walks in the cottage. We hope that our guests find them helpful and useful.

More About The Cottage: - The cottage is set over three floors to take advantage of the character, with beams, oak lintels and deep-set picture windows.

There are a few steps up to the middle floor which leads you into the main living room and dining area. This room benefits from a wood burning effect gas fire. There is also an original priest hole which is located in the dining area.

A few steps lead up into the modern kitchen which provides all the essentials for your holiday.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms. The double bedroom benefits from fabulous views as does the single bedroom. Both are very cosy and have ample storage space. The bathroom is also on this floor.

From the living room a short flight of stairs lead down to a single bedroom and bathroom. Downstairs there is also a drying room which benefits from a door leading to the outside. Ideal for when you return from a long walk or cycle. Boots, shoes, coats, towels, etc. can be left down here to dry. The washer, dryer and freezer are also on this level.

There are two car parking spaces which are located a few yards away on the Glenthorn car park, these spaces are private and for April Cottage guests only. Whilst staying at April Cottage you will have use of the Wordsworth Leisure Hotel which is in Grasmere. There is a pool, jacuzzi and small gym. This is nice to use when you want a relaxing hour or so after a long walk. It is approx 10 minutes walk, or 2 minutes in a car. There is no trouble parking as it had its own private car park.

We do allow you to bring one well behaved dog during your stay. Two dogs is negotiable please do not hesitate to ask us. There will be a charge of £15 per week per dog.
